The Omaha Soaring Club held its annual membership meeting on January 18 at the Millard branch of the Omaha Public Library. 19 members were in attendance.
Election of the 2025 Board of Directors was completed. Dave reported that 3 board positions were open and no new volunteers or nominations for Board positions were received. After some discussion of the open positions, nominations were made for each position and votes taken. The Omaha Soaring Club 2024 Board of Directors will be:

Jeff provided a recap of 2024 flight activity and our financial status. Flight operations are shut down until 4/1 to significantly reduce insurance costs. There was discussion of additional revenue opportunities for the club, and ways to attract new members and keep existing members.
Bob D. led a discussion of work required on the Pawnee and the monitoring of a service bulletin that may require significant additional work.
Steve reported on maintenance needed on the L-23.
There was discussion of the club’s use of the 2-22 and its retention by the club. No conclusion was reached.
Steve reported on plans for some winter ground school, featuring a class on Bronze Badge knowledge areas.
Bud led a discussion of our glider fleet and ways to best pursue our mission:
A Grob 103 that has become available that could provide a higher-performance 2-seat trainer. There was agreement to further investigate.There was discussion of the viability of conditions for cross-country soaring in our area and potential club trips to other soaring events.There was discussion of the planned runway expansion at BTA and its expected impact on us. We will continue to monitor, and ensure the BTA airport authority is aware of our presence and the potential impact of this project.
