Three Gliders Staged for Flight

Three Gliders Staged for Flight

Hi, all:

It was a very nice day today!  Professional writing coaches will tell you that including ‘very’ in a sentence is unnecessary, but on a day like today, it is necessary!  Why?  Because it was VERY nice out!  Even though there were no thermals at all, it was a superb day to be outside.

Eighteen club sorties were flown today:

  • Dan P. started the flights with a ride for a high school classmate from Minneapolis.
  • Sean S. flew two sorties in his Jonkers JS-3.  The first was an aerotow and the second he did a self-launch.
  • Jonathan F. flew two flight lessons with Steve R.
  • Steve took one of the local Traffic Control folks up, and he also gave a ride to one of the Eppley tower employees.
  • Steve took Josh’s father for a ride.
  • Bud S. flew a sortie in his Grob 102 Astir CS77.
  • Will M. flew two solo pattern flights in the L-23.
  • Dave L. flew a solo flight in the L-23.
  • Jeff F. flew his first two flights in the club’s Grob 102 Astir CS.  He says he found it to be a nice flying ship, but readily admits needing to work on landing it more gracefully.
  • Beth C. came out to fly a lesson with Steve.  It was noted that she came out fairly late in the afternoon and no one would have protested if she’d brought a pizza or two with her.  And a beer.  For everyone.
  • Don O. flew his two FAST Kit flights with Steve and decided that he was joining OSCI.  Don is an airline pilot with a lot of experience and would like to tow for us as well as eventually earn his CFI-G.

Frank did the towing today.

Thanks to all, on what was a VERY nice day to be at the airport.

Tom
