Hello, all:

We flew eleven sorties today:

  1. Joe C flew his Annual Safety Flight with Steve R.
  2. Bob A flew a solo flight in the L-23.
  3. Will M flew a flight lesson with Steve R.
  4. Beth C bought a ride for her friend Maria; Steve flew the sortie.
  5. Beth C flew a flight lesson with Steve R.
  6. Will M practiced a Rope Break with Steve R.
  7. Bud S flew a solo flight in the L-23.
  8. Tom S flew a solo flight in the L-23.
  9. Matt R flew his Annual Safety Flight with Steve R.
  10. Beth C bought a second ride for her friend Maria; Steve flew the sortie.
  11. Beth C flew a second flight lesson with Steve R.

When the flights were completed, a group of club members helped to assemble the second Grob 102 Astir (a CS 77) that Bud has purchased.  They also worked to move this glider into a hangar.  That turned out to be fairly tricky to do, as its long wings were very close to the horizontal stabilizer of the L-23.  After multiple attempts trying to identify the best way for it to sit in the hangar, it was agreed that the Grob will have to be moved every time we want to take the L-23 out of its hangar.  There are a lot of lonnnnng, overlapping glider wings in those community hangars:

There was a little lift in the area, but only two of the sorties were longer than nineteen minutes.  Temps were in the low 90’s, and the humidity is building.  It’s summer.

Bob D. did all the towing for us today.

Thanks all for another safe day of soaring.
