Today we flew a total of 17 sorties. We planned to start at 0900 with Civil Air Patrol – Cadet Orientation sorties. However, those were delayed until a little after 1000, due to winds exceeding the flight CAP limits. There was a total of eight orientations sorties. CAP operations concluded at about 1230, and then club operations began.

Club activities included:

- OSCI safety flights for Bob D and Jim D.
- A 91 years-young former paratrooper was given a glider ride as a Father’s Day present; he was out today for his ride and greatly enjoyed it.
- Ryan K flew two sorties with Steve R; one to 3,000′ and then a pattern tow. Later in the afternoon, Ryan and Steve completed a right-traffic-pattern sortie, and then Ryan flew one solo pattern sortie and also a 3,000′ solo sortie. Ryan looked like lobster by the end of the afternoon; he is light skinned and needs to use more sunscreen.
- Bud flew two sorties in the L-23 today, with his second achieving the ‘Long Flight of the Day’ at 38 minutes.
- Jim D and Steve finished the day with a pattern flight, landing back on runway 13 since the winds had subsided.

Frank towed the cadets in the morning, and Bob D towed the club member sorties through the afternoon.

All flights today took off and landed on runway 31 due to the fairly strong winds out of the north.
